Dhn wrote: HOME works here with Windows 10. What happens when you try to run Home? As the OP hasn't replied to 'dhn' I thought I might as well. I have a TT One 2nd edition device - When I select my version of TTHome from the 2 images that appear on-screen, Windows 10 says 'Do you want to allow this website to open an application on your computer?' I select 'Allow' & Windows 10 says, 'You will need a new app to open this tomtomhome. Look for an app in the store' ('Always use this app' box is 'ticked' by default), but no app is found!
I received an email from TomTom that I there were new maps to download for my TomTom XXL gps. I followed the instructions given and connected the device to my computer. Before the process was finished on the computer, I received this message on my device 'Problem with map You cannot use this map on this device: UnitedStates-100468'.
I hit the OK button on the screen and then says 'Select a map:' The only choice I have is select 'United States'. I then tapped 'Done' and a pop up appears in the upper right corner of my screen saying 'Select a Map'. When I hit 'United States' it takes me back to 'Problem with map.'
I'm in a loop and don't know how to fix it. I see where TomTom does not have a tech support number, so I am resorting to this forum to hopefully find out how to resolve my problem! If I get this fixed, I plan to garage sale this device and buy a Garmin. Thanks for any help. Thank you for the support number. Will save it should I have further problems. This is a follow up to the problem I had with being in a 'loop' and unable to operate my TomTom XXl 540s GPS.
Driver Tomtom Home For Mac Problems
I was able to rectify the problem by connecting my GPS to my computer and deleting the maps I had saved. I then downloaded the maps again.
I found that I was unable to successfully download the maps previously because my computer went into sleep mode after 15 minutes and disconnected me from the download. I was successful after I stayed with the download and did not allow my computer to disconnect. This was rather lengthy; about 45 minutes. I could have shut off the screen saver I guess, but didn't. Everything is working fine now.
Like debjean68 I have a TomTom Go 730. The TomTom Home software worked fine (clunkily as for all TomTom software - that so badly lets down their excellent hardware) on Win 7 Pro. I now have upgraded to Win 10 Pro as a dual boot system. I had a nightmare trying to get the latest version of TomTom Home (downloaded from the TomTom site on 21 Feb 2016) - not least as most of the 'Help' stuff tells me to use MyDrive Connect instead - which is totally incompatible with my Go 730. I thought I had solved the problem yesterday by (a) installing the latest version of TTH and rebooting (important). Running the program got the main screen up but there seemed no way to get it to recognise my device.
MS Device Manager reported that no drivers were installed! I let Windows search for a driver and tried again - with Device Manager now reporting no errors. This got TTH to recognise the device and it all seemed to work fine. On trying to reboot Win 10 today it wouldn't even get to the logon screen - a BSOD crash reporting INACCESSIBLEBOOTDEVICE. Spent the next 45 minutes using the Win 10 recovery environment to diagnose and repair.
Eventually got back into Win 10. Then tried TomTom Home and connected device OK and all looked good. On then restarting Win 10 it BSOD crashed reporting INVALIDKERNELHANDLE. Forced a power down and rebooted to Win 10 (smoothly). Then tried running TTH from its exe (no shortcuts) forcing it to use in 7 compatibility and admin mode (probably should have realised that a 2016 program from TomTom would probably not work properly in Win 10) and connected device OK and all looks good. Then Ran CCleaner.
Successfully rebooted Win 10. Given that TomTom software remains, as ever, an utter disgrace (and their Help pages not much better) I am not holding my breath and will continue to test. If only their hardware and mapping were not so good I would have switched to Garmin years ago. Maybe this is the time to make the break as the device is admittedly getting old. Watch this space.
And if you are a TT programmer, please pretty please get it sorted. Successfully rebooted to Win 10 with no crashes! Jrogernew wrote: GoLive 750. Same problem as others after updating PC to Windows10 a few days ago.
File system mac windows compatible. format external hard disk. • Not all Windows versions support exFAT. See 'disadvantages' for details. • exFAT (Extended File Allocation Table) • AirPort Extreme (802.11n) and Time Capsule do not support exFAT • Maximum file size: 16 EiB • Maximum volume size: 64 ZiB • You can use this format if it is supported by all computers with which you intend to share the drive.
The device still connects with no problem and is visible in Explorer. TomTom Home starts ok but will not recognise there is a drive attached. Result cannot update device. Not critical yet as only about a week out of date from my last successful connection pre-Win10 but soon will be. Is there a fix?
Problem seems to be Win10 not TT as it has screwed up my ability to download from my camera SD card too. Thank you Microsoft, you are driving people to Apple! Fortunately my old laptop still has Win7, the un-buggered up by Microsoft version still works for both.
